Core-Apps Mobile Event App SEMICON Case Study
We saw a 26% increase in downloads from last year. Our big takeaway is that our audience is somewhat slower to adopt, but by offering added value and app-only access to certain content, meant that event app downloads this year far surpassed last year.”

The SEMICON West event app provided invaluable engagement and surpassed the previous year’s app downloads.

AAThe SEMICON West conference and expo features more than 600 exhibitors and 115 hours of programs and networking opportunities for the microelectronics supply chain. The event is sponsored by the SEMI organization, which provides industry stewardship to advance the interests of the global electronics supply chain.

With new show leadership in place, it was a learning year for them. But the event app provided invaluable engagement and surpassed previous year’s app downloads, proving their audience was increasingly seeing the value of using the event app.

We talked with Show Director, Sandy Chapin about her experience customizing the app for their audience.

“We selected Core-Apps as our event app provider because we prioritized attendee engagement, document sharing and needed advanced data integration,” she said.

The Core-Apps team worked with SEMI to deploy the Audience Response System (ARS), which provided interactive, real-time engagement that attendees and presenters found useful. The video below features a snapshot of the powerful capability.

“We saw a 26% increase in downloads from last year. Our big takeaway is that our audience is somewhat slower to adopt, but by offering added value and app-only access to certain content, meant that event app downloads this year far surpassed last year,” she said. “We plan to use this year’s success metrics to sell through additional sponsorships next year, as well as promote the use of the app to attendees.”

“Our advice to other event planners is to really know your attendee profile and then adjust for it. Also include info about the mobile app throughout the event. Start sessions by getting speakers or presenters to promote the app and include it in all outbound communications,” she said. “Include the staff in this outreach and provide a tutorial for them. These easily digestible communications really help spark downloads.”
