Last week, I attended IMEX America. I had the opportunity to talk to four groups of college students that were attending an industry event for the first time. These students are all at IMEX learning about hospitality, food and beverage, trade shows, or some sort of related field with the goal of joining the event industry after they graduate. It was a pleasure getting to talk to them about what Core-apps does and how we fit into the industry.
At Core-apps we know that the future of the events industry will be in the hands of today’s college students. We have always put a priority on mentoring up and coming event industry folks. We have provided internships, lent our software for class projects, and currently speak at college job fairs. We even have a Professor on staff that still teaches part time in the evening at UNLV. I was lucky to have the opportunity to speak with those college students at IMEX about how they can prepare themselves to enter the industry, and how they can utilize social networking to their advantage.
People often ask me, “What makes Core-apps different?” One of my many responses is that we are an integral part of the industry. I’m proud that many of our Core-apps team members belong and participate in local IAEE, PCMA, and MPI chapter events. Some also sit on boards of industry associations. I speak at industry events on a regular basis about technology in the industry. We believe that being part of and supporting industry associations helps everyone succeed.
All of this reflects one of our core principles: We don’t want to just be your vendor. We want to help you put on a successful event by being a partner. By supporting our industry wholeheartedly, we aren’t just going through the motions. We set ourselves apart by actively working on improving the future of the event industry.
We are all in!
